Story of the Images:

The photos were taken in the Dendera Temple of Hathor, where the depictions of the face of Hathor on the pillars are smashed by early Christians. The desecraters also carved out every female depiction on the walls and pillars. Leaving only The ceiling fully intact because they could not reach it.

This is the first section of the enormous temple Complex where you enter. Hathor was one of the most powerful and popular Goddesses in ancient Egypt, the Goddess of love, beauty, music, joy, and motherhood. The Dendera Temple of Hathor is also the location with the melted staircase and the "lightbulb".

I took these photos in September of 2022, after I had just entered the Temple for the very first time. I wanted to take a shot without any tourists, to show the serenity that I found there without hundred's of people scattered throughout the temple. Hathor gives me a certain peace of mind whenever I enter a place where she was worshipped and that is the feeling I tried to capture and share with others in these pieces.

I hope this artwork brings the same feeling into your home as it has brought to me.
